Every avid birdwatcher knows that sometimes you have to go off the beaten path to get the best bird watching spot. Sometimes this means trekking through heat and cold, rain or shine, and rugged terrain. But even birdwatchers could use a break every now and then. Treat yourself to this eye-pleasing collection of birds in their natural habitat as seen in art.
If looks could talk, this one would definitely say that this bird may be the one people watching instead! Did you know that female cardinals can sing even louder than males? They will often sing to their mates while sitting on the nest to tell them when to bring food and when to stay away. The male’s bright red plumage could potentially attract intruders to the nest at the wrong time and give them away.
Imagine dutifully watching the water for your fast food. Hours go by staring at your reflection while the hot sun beats down upon you. But wait! What’s that moving in the water out of the corner of your eye? You get excited as you ready your beak to snatch the next tasty meal. This is exactly what the artist intended the viewer to feel looking at this etching. There’s nothing quite like feeling the anticipation of a bird’s life when it comes to bird watching.
This adorable chickadee knows it’s quite pleasing to the eye perched atop a blooming cherry tree branch! Its friendly monochromatic plumage provides a delightful contrast to the tree’s blushy pink blooms and lush green leaves. The warm pink tones in the wood frame are a great accent for the cheeriness in the artwork as well.
“Honey, I’m home!” This robin is quite the proud breadwinner for his family this time around. He’s found a generous quantity of juicy worms for his youngsters! They might not be very appetizing to us, but to birds they’re a great source of protein. Robins have come to be known as a telltale sign that spring has arrived.
