Fini Beunis was born 1922 in Limburg in the Netherlands. She has been painting since she was 16 years old. Fini studied art at the Art Academy in Maastricht, Holland.

After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in art, she studied two years with Dutch artist, Cor Driessen and spent one year studying with Bakker, an internationally known artist from Amsterdam.

In 1956, she and her family moved to the USA and settled in Portsmouth, VA. While living in Virginia, Fini attended Chesapeake College and Frederick College, where she studied American art. There also, she worked as an art teacher for six years. In 1969 she started showing her work at Seaside Art Gallery, in Nags Head, NC. The Beunis family, which includes another artist, her husband Steve, a sculptor, moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 1976. For sixteen years Fini and Steve operated The Blacksmith Gallery, a shop on the Outer Banks. Fini has won numerous awards in juried art shows, nationally and internationally. In 1975 her most treasured award came from the "Association Culturelle Pour La Connaissance Des Arts" in Paris, France. Her work was selected for an exhibition entitled, "The American Painters in Paris". Museums, as well as, many private and corporate collections own Ms. Beunis’ works. Fini Beunis passed away on March 9, 2006.
