I have been a self-taught, professional artist since the early 70’s when I worked with my identical twin sister, Patricia Brown Shelton, under the pen name “The Brown Twins.”

At that time, inspired by famous fantasy artist such as twins Greg and Tim Hildebrant, Frank Frazetta, and Boris, I began a lucrative career in art that involved air-brushed paintings on vans, show cars and motorcycle tanks. In the meantime I worked in oils and acrylics doing everything from realism to fine art portraiture, all the while learning to perfect my skills.

‘Fantasy Art’ has always been first and foremost my preferred art genre. My favorite subjects are derived from mythology, religion and childhood inspirations and are described as being whimsical, provocative and sometimes controversial.

I have exhibited my work in numerous shows and competitions and received honorable news-media attention including ‘full page’ stories. I’ve shared with my twin in top newspapers such as; The Lexington Herald Leader and The Cincinnati Enquirer. We were featured twice in one year on W.Y.M.T t.v. a local NBC affiliate which, aside from our fantasy art, gained us wide-recognition as “the twins that painted together on the same canvas.”

I have resided now for the past 13 years in East Tennessee, near the Great Smoky Mountains, with my husband and two children. My individual art career now includes residential and commercial murals, trompe l’oeils, custom art designs/illustrations, and contemporary fantasy art. In addition to working on commission as a free-lance artist, I have taught art from elementary to college level through private lessons and as an artist in residence. My paintings are worldwide and in private collections of well known celebrities such as John Mellancamp and Sissy Spacek. My hobbies include bird-watching, raising bullmastiffs and writing children’s books.
