West Virginia artist Karen Chamblin specializes in still-life, floral, bird and other animal subjects in oils. She is a member of Oil Painters of America, Society of Decorative Painters, West Virginia Art & Craft Guild, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, Hagerstown, MD and the Parkersburg Art Center. Karen was juried in and accepted as an Artisan at Tamarack in Beckley, WV on March 31, 2011.
Karen was awarded second place in two-dimensional work for her entry in the 2009 Regional Art Exhibition at the Parkersburg Art Center…the first work she had ever entered into an art competition. She was also awarded first place in the theme category of the 2011 Regional Art Contest at the Parkersburg Art Center, Parkersburg, West Virginia. She had art exhibitions at the Parkersburg Art Center, The Washington County Museum of Fine Art, Hagerstown, MD, Tamarack of WV, Beckley, WV and the Florentine Art Center in New Martinsville, WV. She is inspired by the Old Masters and plans to continue her studies with some of the more prominent oil painters of today such as Elizabeth Robbins, Dee Kirkham and Jeff Legg. Karen was born and raised in Glenville, WV and attended Glenville State College and Mountain State Business College. She and her husband, Gordon, are both retired and live in Belmont, WV. The subjects for Karen’s paintings come from their gardens and their extensive collection of Bell Pottery. |
