Click here to see Henry Edens' workHenry O. Edens, V is a native son of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He received his first paint set at age six and dallied with it until he was 18. At that time, Henry decided to trade his paint set in for pencils. He is a self-taught award winning artist. Henry excelled with his pencil drawings and earned several awards beginning with the local Frank Stick Art Show during 1985 and again in 1990. He also received Honorable Mention in the 1987 Rocky Mount Art Show. In the year 2000, Mr. Edens decided to return to oil painting again. Much to the delight of his family and friends, he has continued with his painting and has a very good following locally. Henry’s specialty is bringing to life beautiful images of ocean, marsh and sound side scenes as they appeared years ago, (much like his longtime artist friend and inspiration, M. Charles). Whenever Henry begins a new painting, he never knows what the finished product will be, as he paints from memory the Outer Banks he knew as a child. Just as nature has a surprise for the viewer occasionally, many of Henry’s clients have discovered little surprises in some of his life like paintings. Henry lives on Roanoke Island in Manteo, NC with his wife and children where he continues to paint scenes of his boyhood home.
