On Halloween morning I rose early and drove down to Coquina Beach to watch the sunrise. The sun illuminated the dunes first with coral light, which gradually changed to a warm orange and then to golden light. The shadows also changed colors from deep turquoise to blue-violet. The reflected light was bouncing around in the shadows as well. It was an absolutely beautiful experience and I had tears in my eyes most of the morning. I tried to capture that mood in this painting.
