Horne-Kaplan-Black & White Shorthorn

Denise Horne-Kaplan

Black & White Shorthorn is an original pastel painting by  Denise Horne-Kaplan.  The art measures 9″ x  12″ with the  frame measuring  15″ x  18″,  frame included.

My favorite part of this painting was to capture that "what you lookin at" expression. I love cattle.

Shorthorns which we know today have evolved over the last two centuries originally from North East England. Initially they were a duel purpose breed, beef and milk. The importance of the Shorthorn breed in the development of other cattle breeds is enormous and Shorthorn genetics have been used world wide in the development of over 40 breeds.

South Carolina became the primary cattle raising colony along the Eastern seaboard of America where the British introduced their breeds to early America.
