Horne-Kaplan-Morning Glow

Denise Horne-Kaplan

Morning Glow is an original pastel painting by  Denise Horne-Kaplan.  The art measures 3 1/2″ x  3 3/4″ with the  frame measuring  6 3/4″ x  7″,  frame included.

These are baby Angus calves enjoying their new days out in the glow of the morning sun. Four Angus were brought here directly from Scotland by George Grant in 1873. They were crossed with free roaming longhorns originally brought into Texas that migrated across the south to Florida and the Carolina's.

The settlers produced large numbers of hornless black calves that survived well on the winter range. The Angus crosses wintered better and weighed more the next spring thus becoming the most valued and popular breed of cattle.

On rare occasion a white angus calf was born.
