Goll-Kestrel in Flight

Lori Goll

Kestrel in Flight a pastel painting by Lori Goll. The art measures 24″ x  18″  and the frame is 23″ x  21″, frame included.

This painting was inspired by a sand-tumbled kestrel I found on the beach during a coastal storm.  I thought the bird was dead, but when I bent down to look at the beautifully-colored feathers I noticed she was breathing.  Upon recommendation of the NC Aquarium I called Lou at Hatteras Island Wildlife Rehabilitation.  He talked me through the care she needed before I could transport her to him.  He nursed her back to health.  Since then I’ve learned that kestrel populations are declining.  I am so, so grateful for Lou and the work he does.
