Fragrances of the Spirit is an original oil painting by Debra Keirce. The painting measures 4″ x 6″ with the frame measuring 10″ x 12″, frame included.
As a still life painter, I often see stories in everyday scenes that I have to remind myself nobody else is seeing. When I came upon this tray of teapots and coffee mugs in a coffee shop, their story was obvious to me.
They are the echo of conversations between friends. These are friends who connect on many levels. They have a spirit connection. Casual acquaintances just get a cup, not a whole pot. They chose tea because it is such a subtle yet fragrant beverage, with a level of sophistication. Yep, these folks had lots to talk about.
So see, this isn’t just a painting of some random kitchen items that I assembled. It is a fairly accurate (some things changed to enhance the composition) representation of an experience some fellow humans had. They shared hugs, conversation, delicious tea, bright colors and sweet smells. All their senses were engaged, and I hope yours are too when you view this piece.
