Horne-Kaplan-Nags Head Woods

One of the well know assets of Nags Head Woods are the freshwater ponds. Between the forested dunes are more than 25 freshwater ponds of various sizes. The largest to date is called Fresh Pond which lies between Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head.

Reportedly there are more snakes around the Fresh Pond Woods than ever seen anywhere. In contrast to the barren sand and dunes are these oases of green hills, cool deep woodlands and quiet waters. I like to experience this beautiful scene but I am quite pleased here at a safe distance in my studio. I do like snakes but maybe not in abundance.
