"It was my first ever time at a concert. It was at Pine Knob on a hot Michigan night full of mosquitos, in the early 1980’s and Bob Seger was onstage with his Silver Bullet Band. Detroit is his hometown so the crowd was pumped!
That seems like yesterday to me. But yesterday was actually when I saw Bob Seger in concert at the Jiffy Lube venue un Northern Virginia, in 2019. We are a little older now, so we got seats under the pavilion instead of the lawn. Good thing too, because a thunderstorm added repercussion during the whole concert. I would have been afraid of lightning strikes on the lawn.
This painting is inspired by reference photos I took from the Jumbotron screen. Now that you know the story, can you just hear the thunder and lightning alongside the tunes of “Main Street,” “Fire Lake” and “Against the Wind?” It was like the drummer had a little percussion assistant in the form of Mother Nature."
