This painting was also inspired by a sand-tumbled kestrel I found on the beach during a coastal storm. After putting the bird in the capable hands of Lou at the Hatteras Island Wildlife Rehabilitation, I began to study the American Kestrel. I dreamed of a kestrel, and saw another one on a power line the next day. I’ve learned to pay attention to these visions and visits. This painting is a tribute to this beautiful and declining bird.
