The “Peace Rose” was developed in France in 1935. Sent out of France before the 1939 German invasion in WWII, one bag of the bud wood came to the USA but not introduced until 1945. This rose was named “Peace” on April 29, 1945 at the end of the war. The rose continues to be a centerpiece at the United Nations peace treaty signings. The Peace rose, a hybrid tea, is the world’s most favorite rose and remains to this day a strong symbol of world peace.
