– Sold OutSomething Borrowed, Something Blue an original oil painting by Debra Keirce. The art measures 5″ x 5″ and the frame is 6 1/4″ x 6 1/4″, frame included.
When I got married, my mom insisted I have something borrowed, something blue, something old, and something new. I resisted, but she insisted, so I walked down the aisle wearing blue underwear, a new wedding dress, an old garter and a borrowed hair pin. How do these traditions start, and why do we get so afraid to ignore them? Mama knows best, and I have been married for almost four decades so I guess it worked. In this painting I set up a new perfume decanter, an old art nouveau hairbrush, a blue necklace, and a cake topper I give students to borrow when I’m teaching them how to see shadow shapes. I have such fond memories of my wedding day and I swear they grow fonder with time.
