A miniature oil painting by Florida artist, Marva Simpson. This piece measures 3" x 2" ; the 2nd painting below is 1/2" x 1 1/8" and the modern silver finished wood frame is 7" x 5". The artwork is signed by the artist in the right corner. 

Biography:
Marva Simpson began her career as an artist beginning in her native town of Detroit, Michigan where she obtained commercial art education, then Wayne State University and several private teachers. After marriage and family priorities were satisfied, she went back to creating artwork for various department stores and eventually began teaching oil painting which she continues to this day. She settled in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area in the late 1970s and began specializing in animal portraits. Currently, she does work “from the heart” as well as commissions which range in size from miniature to murals. Her works are in collections in Florida, Michigan, California, Iowa, Tennessee, N. Carolina, Scotland, Germany and England. She has won many awards for her work in oils, pastel, colored pencil, etc. Her subjects range from portraits (human and animal) to sea and landscapes and everything in between. She is affiliated with the Cider Painters of America, Miniature Art Society of Florida, Pinellas Park Art Society and the Gulfport Arts Council.
