Bright, comforting, and filled with wonder, impressionism is a popular art style for admirers today. But did you know that impressionist art is a wonderful way to give your room the glow up treatment? It can be challenging to pull together room decor by yourself. But you don’t have to be a professional interior designer to grace your home with contemporary impressionism. All you need to do is follow these expert artist tips to create a beautiful room with art.
Life would be quite boring without color! If you happen to be a fan of art, that already means you love colors. Just make sure not to go color crazy in your room. Too many things to look at can clash and cause eye strain. If you already have plenty of bold colors on your walls, furniture and accents, try to balance it out with a neutral impressionistic painting. The opposite is also true in a mostly neutral or monochromatic room. Choose a striking impressionistic piece with lots of color to create a focal point that breaks the monotony.
If the colors in your room are otherwise balanced, you can try this tactic instead. Find an impressionist painting that features a specific color matching a certain accent in your room, like couch pillows or your coffee table. Then display it on the wall near said accents and, voila! Your guests will naturally be drawn toward the coordinating colors, and it will look like the pieces were made for each other.
Visual overexertion, complementary colors, rule of thirds, textures and patterns… Whew! Decorating with art like a designer can be exhausting. Try not to get overwhelmed by the technical stuff, though. Remember that inspiration is the primary focus for picking impressionism in your room. Even if you find a piece that “meets all the checkmarks,” all of that is irrelevant if you’re not in love with the art. Does the piece evoke a sense of awe or wonder? How does it make you feel? Most people gravitate toward a specific art style. If you’re not sure how you will respond to impressionism, try seeing the paintings in an art gallery. Seaside Art Gallery has an impressionism section that you can look at anytime online if you need inspiration.
Have you found an impressionistic piece that is calling your name? Simply order it online, or call the Gallery to make a phone order. Once you come across the perfect piece, it will be the best conversation starter for years to come.
