Oh, to be free as a bird and ride on the winds in the sky! Birds are wonderful social creatures that have taught humans many things. People wondered how birds could master the skies for thousands of years. Eventually, the Wright Brothers discovered the power of flight after studying the physics of our feathered friends for a long time. Birds also happen to be beautiful subjects for colorful interior decorating.
Let’s take a moment and appreciate birds everywhere with these fun and gorgeous birds in art.
Like a moving scene from an act in Swan Lake, this gorgeous feathered family takes the stage and leaves the viewer almost breathless. The bright swirling aquatic waters are ready to steal the show in your living room, office, or gathering place, and yet the swans’ soft downy feathers are gentle enough for a soothing backdrop in a bedroom or study.
What’s it like to roam inside the world of a parrot’s dream? It must be fun. Perhaps there is lots of bird seed and crackers galore. Just ask Shuki the parrot. For him, he spends his nights flying free in the trees and playing hide and seek with his woodland friends. Oh, to live in the blissful dream of a parrot!
On your mark, get set… Go! It’s the most adorable race from nature you’ve ever seen. Five water birds pitter-patter across the smooth sands in a race against the tide. But these tiny creatures are surprisingly resilient in the rough coastal environment. Many local Outer Banks shorebirds spend their days hunting for tiny mollusks in the wet sand, always staying a step ahead from the powerful waves. Sometimes, they’re better at avoiding the waves than humans!
After all that adventuring, it’s a good time to take a splash into a refreshing bath. Birds love to take baths because it keeps their fluffy feathers in good condition to fly. They wet themselves just enough to wash away any dust and dirt that might have stuck to them. The soft impressionistic paint strokes perfectly conveys this little bird’s happy countenance and adorable round shape. It almost looks like you can reach out and pet its tiny downy wings!
Did you know that you have the power to help domestic animals when you buy at Seaside Art Gallery? During the Animals in Art Show, a portion of the sales for artwork featuring an animal are donated to a nonprofit organization to help local Outer Banks pets in need. You can find out more about the Animals in Art Show here.
