Growing up I was around a lot of German Shepherds. We had one named Trooper. We also had a swimming pool. Trooper loved to join us in the pool. My dad wasn’t such a fan because his fur would clog the filter. But we often snuck him in! He wasn’t a fetch sort of dog. He preferred to sit and gnaw on things like bumpy rubber balls, rawhide, and a little rubber squeaky toy lamb he had. I didn’t paint the lamb here because it would have looked a bit sacrificial. Trooper’s best friend was our Norwegian Forest cat Misty. The two of them would cuddle together and she would bring him dead mice as gifts. He wasn’t a fan of her dead mice, but he missed her terribly when she crossed the rainbow bridge. Humans can learn so much from animals, I think. All we really need is a dear furry friend, water to play in, and something to gnaw on. The rest is just fluff.
