A beautiful sterling silver pin in the shape of an orchid flower is by Hector Aguilar. This is marked on the back: Made in Mexico and Sterling and includes Aguilar's signature mark. The pin is 3 1/2" long and 3" wide. It was created in the 1940's. This is in very good condition.
Aguilar was one of the major Mexican Silver designers from Taxco. A pin similar to this is illustrated in the reference book, Mexican Silver by Penny C. Morrill & Carole A. Berk, Third edition page 111. Three similar pins are illustrated in the book: Silver Masters of Mexico by Penny C. Morrill page 94.
