The idea of a 5-cent cigar seems ancient. In 2022 the average price for one cigar was $13.43. That's about 269 nickels!
But in actuality, there was a time, during The Great Depression in the 1930's, when cigars were 5 cents. After WWII the price for a cigar was ten cents. That's when more brands became more widely available.
So a really good 5-cent cigar and a glass of excellent bourbon or whiskey may cost more today, but no matter where you are on the planet, you can probably find a 5-cent moment if you look for it.
