My husband bought two of these fancy wine glasses shortly after we were married. He had visions of us sipping wine together in the evenings. I think we did that one time. Then there were kids. I never really found a wine I liked. He prefers beer or bourbon. Life gets complicated. But the original gesture still warms my heart. He imagined evenings of quality time with me.
That's what still life is to me. It's allegorical for life's stories. It's about our partnership that took lots of crazy unexpected turns, and forced us to navigate through both fun and scary situations. It all ended up in mint condition. Our wine glasses just didn't ever get filled with wine. I like mints better anyway. :)
