No matter what happened yesterday, we always have the promise of a new day.
I was inspired by the experience I had of standing on The National Seashore in North Carolina. It is called "the graveyard of the Atlantic" because the currents are some of the most treacherous in US waters. This scallop boat, Ocean Pursuit, wrecked in early 2020. It is amazing to me, watching the earth literally reclaim all the minerals and equipment that comprise the vessel. This was the scene in May of 2021. There is such power in those lapping waves and shifting sands.
At daybreak, the shipwreck is simultaneously beautiful, an example of how the planet cleans up human mistakes, a warning of danger, and a testament to great things humans can accomplish with technology. I absolutely love these moments in America when I experience a flood of powerful feelings. They demand to be painted.
