Have you ever wished you could bottle up your Outer Banks vacation and take it back home? We have, too. If you ever figure out the secret, let us know! While that discovery is still a mystery, these stunning square-shaped paintings are probably the next best thing. Portable and lightweight, they’re ideal for easy transport. Check out some of our favorites below:
Sometimes it’s not about the destination but the journey. The Eastern North Carolina area surrounding the Outer Banks is beautiful, too! This painting captures everything admirable about the Inner Banks, from the fields to the farmer’s markets and everywhere in between.
Nothing says “we made it!” like seeing the ocean peeking behind the dunes. The artist depicts this feeling just right, complete with seagulls contrasting a swath of mysterious clouds over the warm blue horizon.
Playing on the beach is a good day. Discovering a sandbar and frolicking in the tidepool is even better. That’s what these children are certainly thinking. The soft tones and impressionistic strokes further highlight their innocence and whimsy.
Watching hummingbirds is a favorite summer pastime for many people, and this gorgeous watercolor accurately portrays a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird dressed in his best. This piece is framed in a gorgeous handsome dark trim.
Did you know that David Hunter makes more than etchings? He paints beautiful scenes, too. This fun perspective of an Outer Banks mustang in its native environment is a great memento of an Outer Banks vacation adventure.
An Outer Banks beach on a beautiful day is one thing. An Outer Banks beach just before the sunrise is another caliber. The sky transforms into amazing art bursting with life and colors. Remarkably, this painting does it justice.
Everything is vibrant in the summertime, including the flowers! Thanks to this painting you can see an American Goldfinch showing off its gorgeous colors against summer bloomers even on a gray winter evening.
Foxes are our nighttime Outer Banks neighbors. Grey Foxes, Red Foxes, and endangered Red Wolves all call the Ribbon of Sand their home. They aren’t threats to humans and help control pest populations. These Red Fox kits look like they’re about to get into summer shenanigans!
Anyone who visits the beaches in Buxton, NC can fondly recall the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse watching over beachgoers in the distance. This painting honors that legacy by capturing an accurate perspective of the lighthouse on a clear day.
It’s time to end our summer fun, but not without this whale waving goodbye with its tail! Perfect to pair with tans and grays, the painting’s blue tones are sure to delight the maritime mammal lover in your life.
