How Does This Make You Feel? Small Miniature Art with Powerful Impact

Sometimes it’s life’s tiny moments that grab our attention the most. The discovery of a baby bird alone in the bush. A breathtaking sunrise piercing through the clouds. A thunderstorm rolling in from the distance… Such powerful moments are just a few of many more worth the experience in life. The personal impact that miniature art provides offers the opportunity to share thoughtful and powerful feelings that words alone often cannot express. See for yourself the power of breathtaking miniature art! Here are some of our favorite pieces:
We see the sobering symbolism of the American flag beside a picnic sunhat. This obvious analogy of Memorial Day causes one to ponder the sacrifice soldiers had made for their country, as well as what sort of weight the owner of this sunhat might possibly be carrying through their own sacrifices.
This particular piece boasts an impact through striking colors that evoke an excitement for adventure. A sense of brilliant sunlight is also accomplished as the confident boy kayaks through the white background curtained by vibrant fall leaved trees in the forest.
It’s always darkest before the light dawns, and the preciousness of a rose is that much sweeter once the darkness is overcome. But as the name of this piece implies, hope would not be hope if it wasn’t held onto through the darkness in the first place. This rose is a powerful reminder of what the power of hope can accomplish.
This slice of life painting depicts a graceful picture of the typically tedious task of doing the laundry. We love how the artist uses the clothing as an excuse to show off her colorful creativity, as well as the beauty in an otherwise ordinary working mother and her daughter.
A tiny etching filled with character, this humorous scene of the birds mocking a poor cat on the porch is further amplified by their red color in the black and white background. The cat is clearly not amused by becoming a subject of the birds’ free entertainment.
Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned Outer Banks sunrise? This drawing accurately depicts the rainbow-like effect of an ocean sunrise in colored pencil. The textures from the pencil add a delicate point of visual interest that is easy on the eyes.

The famous writer and playwright Oscar Wilde once said, “If you want to play the lion’s share in life, you must wear fox skin.” A “fox skin” implies a person who lives a spicy life with aptitude, wit, fun, and of course good looks.
Judging an art show is never easy - especially one with well over 400 miniature artworks from all over the world, representing a wide diversity of subjects and media. Armed with a magnifying glass and an open mind, I studied each piece as objectively as possible,
It’s no surprise that we love talking about textures when it comes to miniature art. When artists can pack so much realistic detail into such a tiny space, it’s no wonder!
