It’s no surprise that we love talking about textures when it comes to miniature art. When artists can pack so much realistic detail into such a tiny space, it’s no wonder! Check out these tiny textured gems featured in Seaside Art Gallery’s 33rd International Miniature Art Show below.
Mother and Child (Manatees) by Jim Crawford, Bronze Sculpture
Experience the secret life of manatees up close and personal with this adorable sculpture. It’s remarkable that such a soft loving moment between a mother manatee and her pup is made possible through the casting process of hot liquid bronze. Its color even looks like they’re underwater.
Woodland Sunset Nook by Melinda Fabian, Mixed Media Paper Sculpture
Can you believe this tiny whimsical forest filled with life is entirely crafted with paper? We’re trying to wrap our minds around it, too! From the highly detailed grass in the foreground to the distant mountains, the depth perception is simply incredible. Its wide sturdy frame is both suitable for mounting on the wall and for desk display.
Lonesome Christmas by James Boltjes, Mixed Media Sculpture
This teeny sculpture may consist of nothing but simple household furniture, but it’s filled with personality and a subject matter that has no trouble getting the point across. It’s a great early holiday gift idea, or a treat to cheer up that certain someone in your life anytime of the year.
Peacock #1 by Raffaele Paglia, Mixed Media Painting
The three dimensional effect in this Mini is so powerful, you can almost feel the brush of butterfly wings across your cheek. Did you know that some of the butterflies in this piece are based on the real Peacock butterfly species? The Peacock is rare in the United States but is a common sight in Europe and Japan.
The Wee Heilan Coo by Cathy Kuzma, Bronze Sculpture
Based on Scotland’s iconic Highland Cow, this fine bronze sculpture is equally exquisite and fun-loving. It’s a great conversation starter for the office desk, as well as anyone with an appreciation for the land of kilts and the famous Loch Ness monster.
OBX Morning by Crowfeather, Textile
Reminiscent of blissful walks on the beach, this fascinating textile Mini has textures up to the nines, from seashells inspired by local Outer Banks shores to beads of various sizes. Its sunny disposition plays along well with warm toned décor arrangements.
Village of Whimsy by Katie Barnes, Ceramic Sculpture Set
Now that our adventures in Miniature textures are ending, it’s time to return home. But wait, since when was home this tiny? That’s because it’s a neighborhood of Mini houses! This heartwarming neighborhood has almost an abstract quality resembling the works of Dr. Seuss. Its charming aesthetic is a lovely addition to a shelf or fireplace mantle.
