Elizabeth Elgin has lived in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC almost her whole life, other than 3 years in Germany and 10 years in Sedona, Arizona. She currently lives in Maryland with her dog, Jack, near her two daughters and six grandchildren.
Working primarily in oils and acrylics, she has recently branched out into gouache paintings as well. She says she is a member of the “It’s Never Too Late Club” because her formal studies of painting did not begin until she was in her sixties. Still working full-time, she makes learning and easel time a priority evenings and weekends. Her choice of subject is varied: animals, florals, landscapes, seascapes, and still life. Her preference is a realistic style and is not afraid of painting detail. She paints very small miniatures as well as medium and large supports.
She has been juried into the Oil Painters of America, MPSGS (Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society of DC), the International Guild of Realism and the Artists for Conservation. She is also a member of the Montgomery Art Association and The Miniature Art Society of Florida.
