Fini Q. Beunis, 1922-2006. Born in Limburg, Netherlands, she studied at the Art Academy in Maastricht, Holland. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in art, she studied two years with Dutch artist Cor Driessen, and spent one year studying with Bakker, an internationally known artist from Amsterdam. Fini, her husband Steve, and their two daughters moved to the USA in 1956. They settled in Portsmouth, Virginia where she attended Chesapeake College and Frederick College, studying American art. She was also an art teacher.
Beunis won awards in juried art shows, nationally and internationally. The Outer Banks of North Carolina was the subject for her realistic nature paintings. In 1976, the Beunis family moved to the Outer Banks and operated The Blacksmith Gallery at Sea Holly Square in the town of Kill Devil Hills for many years. Fini’s work is on exhibition in museums, and is in many private and corporate collections.
