About The Artist

Artist Jim CarpenterJim Carpenter is an award-winning bird carver who resides in Pfafftown, North Carolina. He carves high detail life-like birds which are sold in fine art and craft galleries. He sculpts his birds out of tupelo gum wood and paints with either artist oils or acrylics. Jim has won numerous “Best of Show” awards at contests across the country and has been juried into fine art shows along with other two and three-dimensional works.

Jim teaches bird-carving classes at the Sawtooth Center of Visual Arts in Winston-Salem, NC and the John Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. He also conducts art demonstrations though out the year. He's a member of the Piedmont Craftsmen in North Carolina. His sculptures have been displayed at the Museum of History and the Governor’s mansion in North Carolina.
