Lladro, established 1953. The company is known for its porcelain figurines. It was founded by brothers, Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, in the village of Almàssera near Valencia. Its figurines are made out of an original blend of hard-paste porcelain, giving the products their unique porcelain characteristics. The glaze ingredients are an industry secret. Lladró figurines are given an English title in addition to the original Spanish one. The English title is often a new name, not a translation, in an effort to appeal to an English-speaking audience. The names of a piece can change throughout its run, and the figurine may have several titles.
