“It’s never too late to become what you might have been.”
This saying inspires artist Brenda Morgan. She saw it on the sign in front of the little country church where she now lives. Brenda's art journey began with a passion to draw and paint, for as long as she remembers. At one point, she worked for an oil company in Oklahoma. This proved to serve her well with a steady income when her brief first marriage ended, and she was left caring for her developmentally disabled son, Matthew. The evening was when she could sketch and paint. She sold her paintings here and there, in nearby galleries. The company transferred her to Houston where she met and married her second husband Sam.
Life's journey took her family to Arkansas where she worked as a poultry inspector. Eventually, Brenda and Sam bought a poultry farm. A man knocked on their door one day, and made them an offer they couldn't refuse... they sold the farm! Brenda now enjoys painting full time.
Brenda’s beautiful art is known across the country. She participates in Women Artists of the West. Her inspiring story appears in ART of the WEST Magazine. Brenda's hallmark elegant western scenes evoke emotion and connection with all living things in the West. We are pleased to have her in our Animals in Art Show, February 2025.

Rustic shadows are cast from the weathered wood fence…an excellent contrast to the soft glowing fur of this stunning horse! Its light grey complexion is a lovely sight to behold from any spot on your wall.
This gorgeous dapper horse is a clear showstopper for your wall. It is certain to impress your guests. His soft coat showcases various textures from the tips of his ears down to his ebony mane. Can you almost reach out and pet him?
We love a painting that tells a good story. In this one, the subject is a bridled horse ready for a day of hard work. In the equine world, an outrider is someone who escorts other horseback riders on a journey or a ranchhand who guides the cattle. The textile background adds a layer of excitement into the unknown.
This beautiful feel-good painting accurately captures the gentleness and affability of this fascinating American horse breed. It calmly holds the bit in its mouth with confidence. Fun Fact: the horse that the cowgirl star Dale Evans rode in Western films was a Buckskin Quarter Horse named Buttermilk.
Brenda paints rich oil colors that evoke a powerful scene that occurs in the American West. See how the horse’s face captures a response to the scene? It’s excellent and relatable to so many of us. It’s amazing how horses are so connected to how we feel, isn’t it?
