Surrounded by wild beauty and local independent businesses, Outer Banks residents are proud of their thriving local art community. From fun farmer’s markets to local art shows, visitors appreciate the Outer Banks artist community, too! Check out these local artists featured this year at Seaside Art Gallery’s Outer Banks Squared: The Art Show.
It’s always a delight to find fully intact shells on the beach. Sharon Whitehurst lives in Kill Devil Hills, NC and enjoys celebrating her home through whimsical art. The vibrant blue ocean goes great with the calming neutrals and the white frame surrounding the artwork. It’s perfect for primary homes and vacation cottages alike!
If you ever ventured over an Outer Banks dune on foot, you’d get to know the local cacti in record time! Bettye White reveals a beautiful side to our prickly flora, however. This one is a triple crown winner with golden blooms! Bettye has dual residencies in North Carolina and Virginia.
Tony Craig is an award-winning artist with experience animating classic films at Warner Bros. and Disney. These days, he enjoys painting watercolor Americana art from his southern Outer Banks home on Harkers Island, NC. Yes, all the lines in the background map of Morehead City are painted by his own hand!
While everyone has seen Cape Hatteras Lighthouse from the oceanfront side, seeing the famous light from the soundside is equally stunning. Southern Shores resident artist Janet Groom Pierce captures a soft perspective of the lighthouse peeking through the marshy brush. The tan frame is a thoughtful nod to the black needlerush, which often casts a golden glow in spite of the name.
Seaside Art Gallery is proud to feature local Outer Banks artists. Seaside Art Gallery is a local Outer Banks landmark, too! Did you know it is the first art gallery that was founded in the area? It has grown to one of the largest art galleries in the Southeast. See Outer Banks Squared: The Art Show right now online and at the Gallery.
