Birds are like the jewels of the animal kingdom. These aerial marvels can sing, boast stunning colors, show off their remarkable precision in flight, and put an instant smile on a human’s face. Let’s celebrate these amazing creatures with this beautiful artwork featured in the Animals in Art Show which helps to benefit pets and their owners in need.
The striking plumage of this tropical toucan stands out in the rainstorm as the bird seems to contemplate deep thoughts from its perch. Its bright blue feet are a fitting match to its mood. Is it pondering the meaning of life, the location of its mate, or is it trying to answer the burning question: what’s for lunch?
Who would have thought a portrait of an osprey could have so much personality? We love how its deep blue beak and golden eyes are front and center in the headshot surrounded by negative space. Its confident and curious spirit makes the bird of prey seem approachable. The black frame gives the piece a strong finish.
If you can’t wait for spring to come fast enough, at least this romantic cardinal in a flowering tree will help give you positive thoughts. We love its ruby-red feathers against the vibrant pink blooms and signs of life. It serves as a herald for good things to come.

This shorebird with a regal name gets the royal treatment with shimmering hammered metal leaf in the background like glistening sand in the sun. The art commemorates a simple moment of awe and wonder when the artist witnessed a flock on an Outer Banks beach at springtime.
Wow, what a stunning bluebird! Its striking cerulean feathers sparkle like treasure against the dark scratchboard sky. You can almost hear it getting ready to puff up and burst into song any moment. This piece is a scratchboard, which is made when the artist scratches lines on the inked surface and then colors the lines with India ink.
Great horned owls are not only fascinating and efficient nocturnal birds of prey, they’re cute too! Just look at this one’s adorably shiny yellow eyes. The miniature art’s small scale multiplies the cuteness, so much so that you might give enough of a hoot to bring it home with you!

Shiver me timbers! It’s time for a high-seas adventure in the art world. Blissful painted scenes of sailboats are an old and popular subject, especially in the Outer Banks.

Ask yourself what famous artwork first comes to mind, and Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night, the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, or a historical engraving by Albrecht Durer might surface.
