Tired of trudging through the day to day doldrums? Make life more exciting with colorful Impressionism. This fun art style champions daily beauty with fun imaginative expressions of the real things around you. Even if it’s for just a moment, take a walk on the wild side and see how fun life can be through a different lens!
Yikes, it’s a den of lions! This colorful cast of characters doesn’t seem to be dangerous, though. If anything, their royal beauty is calmly expressed in vibrant colors. Some stand tall and proud, others bask in the warm sun. The crimson cliff on one side is a lovely contrast to the serene greenery on the other.

One of the best things about Impressionism is that one painting can shout in bright, textured colors while another can whisper calm pools of sunshine and they are both in the same genre. Here we see an Outer Banks beach bathed in the ethereal glow of the golden hour sun. The path is straight and sure, communicating to the viewer that despite everything one might go through, life is always better with one more sunrise.
Water and clouds coincide in a delicate monochromatic dance with the moonlight. The viewer gazes at a calming full moon over the ocean horizon of deep midnight darks and blues. Loose brushstrokes serving the open sea and sky give it an otherworldly feel. The thin silver toned frame is a fitting complement to the mystical nocturnal scene.
This classically inspired painting hits all the right sweet spots. One can see the rule of thirds, thick painted brush strokes, the expression of the cat’s contemplative face from afar, and complementing warm colors of ginger and spice against the dark shadows of the bushes in the background. The warm, welcoming sense of light creates a fun interpersonal atmosphere with this fabulous feline.
No example of Impressionism is complete without a glorified slice of life moment. This fun painting features a typical Summertime moment at the Snow Bird Burgers and Cones in Nags Head, NC. Soft colored lines and well placed shading give the scene a natural bright sunny feel. Even in the parking lot there is beauty showcased by the vibrant flowering bushes in the foreground on the way to the order window.
What a view! This hummingbird is getting quite the show from her nest up high in the branch. The heavens seem to split open in two, as if from the hummingbird’s beak! A blue partly cloudy sky gives way to a shimmering golden atmosphere. We’re not sure if this is an allegory or a literal representation, but it’s interesting to note that the hummingbird is sometimes a symbol for joy, good news, hope and resilience.
If you’re looking for a cure from the blahs, Impressionism art is an effective remedy. Seaside Art Gallery is a good place to begin your quest for whimsy. The Gallery is open year round as well as online. Take a look at the collection here.

If you've ever turned over a piece of jewelry and noticed a tiny stamp reading 925, you may have wondered what it means. Is it real silver? Is it valuable? And what's the difference between sterling, coin silver, and pure silver?

At the heart of the etching genre lies its mastery of intricate detail, the kind that’s perfect for depicting illustrations and the lives of people across the ages in candidness and accuracy.
