Many sculptures are renowned for their large size and grandeur to behold in the world of fine art. Then there are tiny sculptures that hold a delicate balance of intimacy and even endearment. Today’s blog post covers precisely that, and we picked some of our favorites in the collection at Seaside Art Gallery. These fine sculptures have impressed us with their adorable disposition and awesome talent. Let’s take a look!
Who can deny this adorable little creature? Its loving eyes contain the dangerous ability to melt your heart! Sitting content while peacefully sniffing a flower, the tiny dinosaur reminds one of a tender moment from the animated Land Before Time movies. It appears to bear the namesake of the sculpture. It’s a great gift for a loved one you might know of!
The name is very fitting for this endearing little horse as it stretches gracefully from its post. Its balancing resembles a ballerina pose, and the greenish patina gives it a classic “Liberty Statue-like” flair. This piece does a great job of making one savor being in the moment.
Look, it’s a “mini” Great Blue Heron! Get it? ...Okay, we will spare you from the eye-rolling puns. Jokes aside, the minuscule sizing of this waterfowl is simply adorable. You can admire it on your desk, in your hand, and just about anywhere. The detailed effects of its feathers and the water are great details, too.
It can be tricky to find a classic nude these days, so we were delighted to discover this piece brimming with taste and talent. The sculpture hits all the right notes--soft lines, smooth form, and portioned angles. Note how the human form is likened to the beauty of the Outer Banks coastline.
Eager to see more delightful pieces of sculpture? You can find them in both the Miniature Art and Sculpture sections at Seaside Art Gallery’s website. Not all sculptures need to be serious, they can be lighthearted too! The most important thing is to recognize when you encounter a sculpture that strikes your fancy, it has probably found a home.

April is a popular time for weddings in the Outer Banks, and the engagement ring plays an important part in the process. Shopping for an engagement ring is a huge commitment, so where do you begin?
